Jill Biden to lead US Olympics delegation

The White House has confirmed First Lady Jill Biden will travel to
Japan for the Olympics opening ceremony.

There had been speculation the US might not send a delegation as the
Games are taking place amid a state of emergency due to rising
Covid-19 numbers.

German Health Minister urges higher vaccine take-up

Germany's Health Minister has urged people to get vaccinated against Covid-19 - saying the supply problems that had earlier plagued the country's rollout have now long gone.

Fears of third wave heighten in Nigeria after Delta variant discovery



Nigeria has announced a growing number of new cases of COVID-19 increasing fears about a third wave after recently confirming news of the Delta variant in the country. 

According to data from the NCDC, two deaths have been recorded since Sunday, nearly two hundred cases reported, increasing the tally to over 168,000 cases so far.

France announces mandatory Covid-19 vaccinations for health workers
