Hackers demand $70m to unlock 1000s of businesses

Cyber criminals are demanding $70 million to unlock the accounts of
thousands of businesses targeted in a ransomware attack.

The hackers gained access through a Miami-based computer systems firm,
which then infected companies in 17 different countries.

Changes to isolation rules for vaccinated people and school pupils in England

Pupils in England will no longer have to self-isolate if someone in their in-school 'bubble' tests positive for COVID-19. 


Education Secretary Gavin Williamson has confirmed that children will only have to isolate if they themselves test positive.

28 killed in Russian passenger plane crash

A plane has crashed in Russia's Far Eastern region of Kamchatka, killing all 28 people on board. Local media are reporting that the aircraft collided with a cliff as it prepared to land in a small village airport. Julia Chapman has more.

26 students rescued, more than 100 abducted from school in Nigeria


At least 26 students have been rescued while over a hundred remain missing after gunmen attacked a school in Kaduna, northwest Nigeria.

Several schools have now been closed indefinitely in the state while the government moves to rescue the missing students.

Germany relaxes travel restrictions for UK and four other countries

Germany has said it's ready to welcome more international tourists, with the country's main public health agency removing the UK and several other countries from its travel ban list.

ENGLAND SET TO UNLOCK ON JULY 19

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson says he expects almost all covid-19 restrictions will be removed in England from July 19th.

He's set out a return to near-normality for the English economy - of which the government will make a final confirmation either way next Monday.

But government critics say it's unwise with over 27 000 new coronavirus cases confirmed in the last 24 hours... and numbers set to rise yet further.
