UK: 19TH JULY REOPENING IS ON TRACK

The UK government says it's on track to fully reopen the English economy on 19th July.

Remaining covid-19 restrictions were due to be removed today (21st June), but ministers paused due to a rise in cases of the Delta variant first discovered in India.

Infections continue to grow, with 9284 confirmed in the last 24 hours, but the acceleration in growth has slowed.

Business minister Kwasi Kwarteng says he thinks the 19th July is achievable.

India launches centralised vaccination drive after criticism over shortages

Starting today, India is, in a sense, relaunching its COVID19 vaccination drive.

Six months since it started inoculating citizens, the drive in a country that manufactures more vaccines than any other has been plagued by shortages.

Now the central government is centralising the process of vaccine procurement once again, with the promise that a majority of all Indians will get the vaccine free.

AstraZeneca claims EU loss in court case over vaccine deliveries

AstraZeneca says the European Union has lost a legal case against the pharmaceutical firm over Covid-19 vaccine deliveries. 

A court in Belgium has rejected a request for additional doses by the end of June. 

However the EU said the court agreed AstraZeneca had committed a "serious breach" of its contract.

EU adds US to its travel safe list

The European Union has added the United States to its safe travel list, meaning it will be easier for American citizens to take a holiday in Europe.
