On the eve of the summit between the American and Russian leaders, Vladimir Putin has renewed an offer to swap prisoners with the US. President Biden pledged to press Moscow on the fate of the Americans convicted in Russia, as well as the case of the jailed Russian opposition politician Alexey Navalny when he meets his Russian counterpart for talks in Switzerland on Wednesday. The Geneva summit comes after several years of crisis in Russia's relations with the US, which both Presidents agreed were at "the lowest point in recent years."

Investigations are underway into reports of a leak at a nuclear power station in China. Management at the plant say it's operating safely, and that they're meeting to resolve what they call a "performance issue." It follows reports in US media that the French company that designed the plant, was concerned of an "imminent radiological threat".
