UK opposition party rejig unveiled -- senior shadow ministers sacked

Sir Keir Starmer has sacked one of his most senior shadow ministers in his first cabinet reshuffle since becoming leader of the UK's main opposition Labour Party. 


Anneliese (PRON: Anna-lease) Dodds, formerly shadow Chancellor, has been demoted to the party's Chair, a position that had been held by deputy leader Angela Rayner.


The shake-up of Sir Keir's team follows Labour's poor election results in England last week.

US pipeline cyberattack hits fuel prices

US motorists are expected to see a shortage of fuel and an increase in
prices after a cyber attack shut down the country's largest pipeline.

Four days after the attack it's still not clear when the pipeline,
that carries almost half the east coast's fuel supply, will be
operating again.

DRC REBELS KILLED

Japan to ramp up vaccines as COVID cases rise

Biden endorses Ardern's "Christchurch Call To Action" on violent online content

The White House has announced that the United States is endorsing the Christchurch Call to Action aimed at eliminating terrorist and violence extremist content online.


The White House press secretary said the Biden administration will now participate in the Christchurch Call's virtual summit in just a week's time.

U.S. jobs growth falls well short of expectations in April

Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine becomes first to be assessed for full approval by US drug makers

Under 40s in UK to be offered alternative to AZ jab

Conservatives triumph over Labour in historic UK by-election victory

Prime Minister Boris Johnson's Conservative Party has won a crucial by-election in the north of England.


Its candidate recorded a convincing victory in Hartlepool, a seat that had been held by Labour since the constituency was formed nearly 50 years ago. 


It's a huge blow to Labour's Sir Keir Starmer in his first election test since taking over as leader.


The vote was held as millions of ballots were also cast for the Scottish and Welsh Parliaments, as well as councils and mayoralties across England, with results expected over the coming days.

German Parliament approves vaccine privileges law
