Australia – Northern military training bases to receive multi million dollar upgrades

The Australian government will spend $747 million upgrading defence facilities in the Northern Territory.

The bases are used for joint Australian US military training exercises, with thousands of US troops rotated through the region each year.

Hong Kong promises new law won't be used to stop people leaving

The Hong Kong government is trying to reassure the public that a new immigration law will not give authorities the power to bar residents from leaving the city. The government says the law will only apply to inbound travellers, and is targeted at illegitimate asylum seekers. US sending supplies to India to combat its COVID-19 surge

The US is sending more than $100 million dollars worth of supplies to India to help it battle a devastating surge of COVID-19 infections.

The White House said the US was "determined to help India in its time of need", just as it "sent assistance to the United States in the early stages of the pandemic.

Biden to say Jan 6th was worst attack on US democracy since civil war

US markets edge down as Fed keeps policy loose; AAPL + FB blast earnings expectations

US benchmark indices were little changed in Wednesday's trading session, ending just fractionally in the red after trading mostly mixed throughout the day.

Michael Collins, last surviving member of Apollo 11 lunar mission, dies aged 90

The astronaut Michael Collins has died….the last surviving member of the Apollo 11 mission.


When Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked on the moon in 1969, he stayed on board the orbiter.


And he's the man who piloted it around the dark side of the moon, losing all communication with earth for almost an hour.


He spoke about that experience at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in 2016.

Giuliani home raided by federal investigators in New York

UK’s Electoral Commission to investigate Prime Minister Boris Johnson

The UK's Electoral Commission has launched a formal investigation into the funding of refurbishments by Boris Johnson to his Downing Street apartment. 


The Prime Minister has been under growing pressure to disclose who initially financed the revamp after his former adviser, Dominic Cummings, claimed Conservative party donors "secretly paid" for the works.


The Commission has the power to issue fines if the law has been broken, although if Boris Johnson is found to have acted illegally, he could even face calls to resign.
