India approves Russian-made Sputnik V amid a surge in COVID infections

India continues to wrestle with a record rise in COVID-19 case numbers, recording more than 161,000 cases in the past 24 hours, pushing the country's total caseload to over 13.6 million.

The Indian government says it will fast track approval for foreign vaccines that have already been granted emergency authorisation in other countries, amid fears of a shortfall in supplies.

The African Union has upped its distribution of Johnson and Johnson's COVID-19 vaccine across the continent, four days after putting the purchasing of more Astra Zeneca shots on hold, over supply concerns.

ALL OVER 50s OFFERED VACCINE IN UK

The UK government's offered all over-50s and the most vulnerable a Covid-19 vaccine first dose.

The milestone comes several days before the April 15th target and means those in their 40s are now being offered a jab.

The Moderna vaccine is also now being rolled out in England.

Tanzania and Uganda finally sign the final agreement in the EAST AFRICA CRUDE oil pipeline deal.

President Yoweri Museveni has called the signing of the East Africa Crude Oil Pipeline between Tanzania and Uganda a victory for the two countries.
