World’s first living donor lung transplant for Japan COVID patient

Doctors at Kyoto University Hospital performed the world's first living lung transplant. The patient, whose lungs were damaged after contracting COVID-19, received parts of healthy lungs from her husband and son.


There is now hope that this procedure could cut waiting times for other patients in need of transplants.

First Hong Kong flights from UK in months sell out within hours

The Hong Kong government says it may organise more flights from the UK, after seats on two planes to bring back the city's residents sold out within hours.

Many Hong Kongers have been stranded there since December, following a ban on UK arrivals to Hong Kong, due to worries about Covid-19 variants.

Weekly jobless claims data disappoints

More Americans filed for first-time unemployment benefits than

ECHR SAYS VACCINATION CAN BE MADE MANDATORY

The European Court of Human Rights has ruled compulsory vaccinations are legal.

The case was brought by Czech families over the government's decision to make vaccines for certain diseases mandatory for children.

EU nations impose restrictions despite EMA AstraZeneca guidance

UK condemns "coup in London" at Myanmar's embassy

Britain's Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab has condemned what he called the "bullying actions" of Myanmar's regime after the military attaché locked the country's ambassador out of the embassy in London.

It meant he was forced to spend Wednesday night in his car, having been informed he was no longer Myanmar's representative in the UK.

Next Shipments of Vaccines to Uganda to be Delayed.

The World Health Organization says there will be a slight delay in the next shipment of vaccines to Uganda which could affect the scheduled time for people to take their second jab.

Uganda received its first batch of the Astrazeneca vaccines from the COVAX facility in March and a second shipment was due to arrive by the end of May.

Nigeria prison break: 48 fleeing inmates recaptured


Nigerian authorities say 48 inmates who escaped from a correctional facility in Imo state southeast Nigeria on Monday have been recaptured.

UK: VACCINE ROLLOUT WILL STILL HIT TARGETS

The UK says its vaccine rollout remains on course despite a change in guidance for young people about the AstraZeneca covid-19 jab.

Regulators say people aged under 30 will be offered an alternative vaccine if one is available.

It's due to evidence linking rare clots to the AstraZeneca jab.

Ministers say the UK has enough supplies of Pfizer and Moderna to make sure all adults are offered a vaccine dose by the end of July.

Biden set to unveil long-awaited action on gun control

Australia - Bone tools more than 35,000 years old

Excavated from the Riwi cave in Western Australia's southern Kimberley region in the early 90's, advanced dating techniques put the eight bone tools as between 35,000 and 45,000 years old.


This would make them some of the oldest artefacts to have been discovered in Australia.
