Britain poised to lift restrictions on foreign travel

Britain’s battle against COVID-19 looks set to take another significant step forward [Downing Street presser 16:00 GMT], with a raft of plans lifting travel restrictions for foreign travel.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is poised to announce proposals that would experiment with mass gatherings, and introduce COVID-19 testing for everyone in England, twice a week.

India's daily COVID19 tally crosses 100,000 for the first time

India has recorded its biggest single day jump in confirmed COVID19 cases since the start of the pandemic as the country grapples with a second wave of infections.

Japan begins delivering COVID-19 vaccines for elderly

The Japanese government has started distributing coronavirus vaccines to prefectures in preparation for its inoculation programme for the elderly.

Indian state of Maharashtra imposes strict new curbs amid Covid-19 surge

Biden "heartbroken" by Capitol attack that claims life of police officer

President Biden has ordered the flag at the White House to be lowered after today's incident on Capitol Hill that took the life of one police officer and left another in critical condition.


A 25 year-old suspect was shot dead by police after driving his car into a security barrier at the Capitol Building, and then lunging at officers with a knife.


Police say they do NOT believe it was an act of terrorism.

US Capitol Police Officer killed after Capitol Attack

A US Capitol Police officer has been killed and another has been injured, after an individual rammed into the barricade around Capitol Hill in Washington DC.

Officials said the suspect, who was shot by the police, has also died.
