US markets end mixed with Dow near new high and Nasdaq logging losses

A tale of two extremes on Wall Street this session, with the Dow Jones near a record high but Nasdaq doing its worst day in a month.  


This session, investors had their eyes on rising interest rates, a comeback from industrials and energy stocks.

US brands Iran nuclear enrichment plan " a threat"

Trump lashes out at Supreme Court after it allows grand jury access to his tax records

Former US president Donald Trump has lashed out at the US Supreme Court's decision after it decided to block a grand jury from accessing his tax returns.

EU foreign ministers give the nod to new Russia sanctions over Navalny

Foreign ministers from EU countries have agreed to place further sanctions against Russian officials over the jailing of Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny. 

If the measures are approved by EU leaders in mid-March, it will mark the first time the EU has used a new sanctions regime for human rights abuses.

UK PM sets out roadmap to end Covid-19 lockdown

Boris Johnson has unveiled his roadmap to lift coronavirus lockdown restrictions in England. 


As he laid out his plans to Parliament, the UK Prime Minister said he hoped the nation was on a "one way road to freedom" after a "wretched year."


But, he warned that there was "no credible" route to totally eliminating coronavirus and achieving a "zero-COVID" status.

Uganda's Bobi Wine Withdraws Election Petition

EU set to green-light fresh sanctions on Russia over Navalny jailing

The EU is expected to green-light fresh sanctions on Russia over the imprisonment of Alexei Navalny, as foreign ministers from the 27-nation bloc meet in Brussels for talks. 

Ministers will also consider penalties against Myanmar officials over the recent coup, and discuss efforts to salvage the Iran nuclear deal.

RUSSIAN LAWMAKERS TO MAKE INSULTING VETERANS CRIMINAL OFFENCE

Senior Russian lawmakers have proposed amending the law to make insulting WWII veterans a criminal offence.

According to the Vice Speaker of the lower house, Irina Yarovaya, the law should punish those who "humiliate the honour and dignity" of front-line soldiers.

It comes after Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny was fined eleven and a half thousand dollars for slandering a veteran, a charge he denies, and believes was politically motivated.

Seven dead, black box, items recovered as military jet crash in Abuja


Seven persons have died after a military aircraft crashed a few yards off the runway at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja.

Indian state of Maharashtra imposes curbs to tackle Covid-19 surge

Japan grounds Boeing 777 jets after engine breakup

Japan has asked airlines to stop flying some Boeing aircraft in and
out of the country, after the engine on a US flight broke up in the
air.

The US Federal Aviation Administration has also called for increased
inspections on the jets.
