UK ECONOMY SLUMPS MOST ON RECORD

The UK economy shrank 9.9% in 2020 - the biggest slump on record.

However, there was GDP growth in the final quarter of the year, which means the UK may avoid a double-dip recession.

The Bank of England is predicting a fast rebound for the economy in 2021 as covid restrictions are eased and a vaccination programme is rolled out.

RUSSIAN AUTHORITIES WARN AGAINST VALENTINE’S DAY PROTEST

Russian law enforcement has warned against a Valentine's Day protest, organised in support of jailed opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

Ugandan Military Pilot Dies in Helicopter Crash

Reports: Trump lawyers will present only 3 hours of evidence in his defense

President Trump's lawyers say they'll only present 3 hours of material in his defense at his impeachment trial - far fewer than the 16 hours they're allowed.

UK government's mixed messages on summer holidays causing confusion

Kent variant of UK virus will "sweep the world," fears senior UK scientist

The coronavirus variant first found in the English country of Kent has "swept the UK" and is now on course to "sweep the world."

Europe's oldest person celebrates 117th birthday after beating Covid-19

A French nun who is Europe's oldest person turns 117 today/on Thursday/on February 11.
