US President Joe Biden has signed executive orders to tackle what he called the "existential threat" of climate change.

 

Many climate activists have celebrated the move, but there's resistance from the oil industry.

Blinken confirms Biden administration is freezing arms sales to UAE and Saudi Arabia


US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has confirmed the Biden administration is freezing planned arms sales to the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

Blinken was confirmed by the US Senate as America's top diplomat this week.

Worst day on Wall Street since October

On Wall Street, the Dow fell more than six hundred points on
Wednesday, it's biggest drop in three months.

Boeing posts record annual loss

School return delayed in England

Schools won't reopen for most pupils in England immediately after the February half-term.


They should now start to reopen from the 8th of March instead, but UK Prime MInister Boris Johnson says a final decision would depend on meeting vaccination targets.

Hunger and malnutrition in Ethiopia’s Northern region

AstraZeneca hits back at EU criticism over vaccine delays

Pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca has hit back at criticism from the European Union over delays in the delivery of its Covid-19 vaccine to the bloc.

UK PM “deeply sorry” for Covid deaths, as scientists claim gvt made “poor decisions”

UK HOTEL QUARANTINE DETAILS TO BE REVEALED

UK residents arriving in the country from designated covid-19 hotspots will face hotel quarantine under plans due to be confirmed later (Wednesday).

It's expected international arrivals from parts of South America, southern Africa, and Portugal will need to spend 10 days in quarantine in hotels at their own expense.

Travel from those areas is already restricted for non-UK residents.

The opposition Labour Party says hotel quarantine should apply to all international arrivals.

Australia – Pregnant women advised against Covid 19 vaccine

Australia's Federal Government is spending 24 million dollars in an advertising campaign urging people to get vaccinated against Covid .

The elderly, front line workers, migrants and Indigenous Australians will be given the first chance to take up the Pfizer vaccine, which is expected to be available late in February, but pregnant women are being told to wait.

Hong Kong carries out first COVID-19 mass-testing "ambush"

The Hong Kong government says it plans to carry out more of what it calls "ambush-style" mass COVID-19 testing operations, after completing an overnight lockdown on two residential streets. 

330 people were tested for the coronavirus. One person tested positive.
