UK PHARMACIES JOIN VACCINE ROLL-OUT

Pharmacies in England are joining the vaccination roll-out, with 200 of them providing jabs over the next fortnight.

More than 2.6 million people in the UK have already received their first vaccination.

But the government has a target of vaccinating 15 million of the top priority groups by the middle of February.

President Trump faces Senate Trial after Historic Second Impeachment

US President Donald Trump has been impeached by the House of Representatives for a second time.

 

He's been charged with "incitement of insurrection" following last Wednesday's storming of the US Capitol by his supporters.

 

It's the first time in US history that a President has been impeached twice and, as our correspondent Jagruti Dave reports, Mr Trump now faces trial in the Senate.

Trump becomes first US president in history to be impeached twice

U.S. lawmakers have voted to impeach President Donald Trump for a second time, making him the first president in U.S. history to be impeached twice.

President Trump is charged with the “willful incitement of insurrection” following a mob assault on Capitol Hill last week that led to five deaths and dozens of injured police officers.


Ten Republicans defected and voted in favor of impeachment, in a move that comes just days before he leaves office.

Google Suspending Political Ads in Wake of Capitol Riot

Google is suspending all political ads political ads through President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration next week.

Boris Johnson pays tribute to those involved with UK vaccine roll out

The UK has recorded a record number of daily deaths from Coronavirus.


1,564 people died within 28 days of a positive COVID-19 test.


Before the figures were released, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson claimed that the national lockdown is starting to have an impact.


...but he repeated threats to enforce tougher restrictions if needed.


The Prime Minister also praised those who have worked to set up the mass vaccination programme.


He added that plans to extend vaccine hub hours are in place and that jabs are being given out as quickly as they're produced.

US records highest number of Covid-19 deaths

Mike Pompeo trip to Brussels cancelled at eleventh hour

A planned visit of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to Brussels has been cancelled the day before it was due to take place.
