An historic percentage of Americans want US president Donald Trump removed from office according to an assessment of polls conducted since riots at the Capitol.
An average across polls conducted since Wednesday and collated by CNN shows that 50% of Americans want Mr Trump to either be impeached, for the 25th Amendment to be invoked or for him to resign from office.

Democrats on Capitol Hill are doubling down on efforts to remove President Donald Trump from office this week, nine days before Joe Biden moves into the White House.

The Hong Kong government is accusing foreign critics of the city's national security law of slander. The US, UK, Canada and Australia have jointly condemned the use of the law to arrest more than 50 activists and politicians last week.
