There's chaos in Washington, as pro-Trump protestors tussle with police and push into the US capitol building.

The US Vice President and congressional lawmakers have been evacuated- they were taking part in the certification of Joe Biden's presidential win.

Protestors Breach US Capitol

Protesters have breached the Capitol where lawmakers were meeting to ratify Joe Biden's win in the US election.


Lawmakers have stopped their debate and the House Chamber has been evacuated.

US Capitol on Lockdown

The US Capitol is on lockdown after thousands of President Trump's supporters stormed the building while Congress was in session. Vice President Pence was quickly ushered out of the Senate Chamber, after many of the President's supporters broke through barricades of police officers and burst into the Capitol building.

Trump supporters and police clash outside Congress

Pence Says He Won't Interfere

Thousands of protesters are marching in Washington DC  and hundreds have stormed the capitol, to falsely assert the presidential election was stolen from Donald Trump.

His Vice President Mike Pence says he will reject President Trump's pleas to intervene in the outcome of the US Presidential election. 

The Vice President says his oath to support the Constitution prevents him from doing that.

UK records a further 62,000 Covid-19 cases and over 1,000 deaths

In the last 24 hours 62,322 people have tested positive for Covid-19 and a further 1,041 have died in the UK.


It has also been revealed that for the first time more than 30,000 people have been admitted to hospital because of the virus.


Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that the 'race' is now on to vaccinate as many people as possible.


If the current rate continues to climb, Health Secretary Matt Hancock warned that the NHS may not be able to cope with the increased pressure.

Health Experts are worried Ghana may have new COVID-19 variant
