Brexit trade talks continue, as the European Commission president told EU leaders the "situation is difficult" and the "main obstacles remain."  

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson briefed his cabinet on Thursday to make preparations for a no-deal outcome - which he now says could be 'wonderful' for Britain.

Hong Kong activist Jimmy Lai charged under national security law

One of Hong Kong's most prominent democracy activists is facing charges under the city's national security law that could result in life imprisonment.

Media tycoon Jimmy Lai is due in court on Saturday to face charges of colluding with foreign forces and endangering national security.

UK VACCINE MANUFACTURER TO TRIAL COMBINATION WITH RUSSIA VACCINE

UK pharmaceutical manufacturer AstraZeneca has agreed a partnership with Russia's Gamelaya institute to work on a combined Covid-19 vaccine.

Both have produced their own vaccines, with Gamelaya reporting efficacy of more than 90%, and AstraZeneca reporting around 70%.

Now AstraZeneca will conduct a clinical trial to test a combination of both vaccines.

EU Council summit concludes with breakthrough on recovery fund and climate change

The EU Council summit has concluded after an overnight marathon, with a deal on the bloc's landmark €1.8trillion long-term budget and recovery fund. 

EU leaders discussed Brexit for just ten minutes, with agreement that no-deal was now the most likely outcome.

US Federal Advisors Endorse Pfizer Vaccine

Federal advisers in the US have endorsed the Pfizer BioNtech vaccine.
