France to clamp down on Christmas skiing holidays abroad

France is going to bring in random borders checks to dissuade people from going to countries where ski resorts remain open.

Pistes are closed in France and the government doesn't want citizens going overseas for festive holidays this year.

Ethiopia TPLF member surrenders

The government of Ethiopia says that one of the top members of the Tigray People Liberation Front, the political party that it is fighting in the North - has surrendered.

 

Keria Ibrahim was one of the 9 executive members of the political outfit that prime minister Abiy Ahmed's government now considers a criminal group. 

He has accused them of going against the constitution and the regional forces in the country's north, of attempting to rob the country's National barracks.

Uganda's Opposition Candidate Bobi Wine Suspends Campaigns

Hong Kong activist Joshua Wong jailed over 2019 protest

Hong Kong's most prominent democracy activist Joshua Wong has been jailed for 13.5 months for his role in unauthorised anti-government protests last year. His fellow activists Agnes Chow and Ivan Lam have been given shorter sentences. 

All three had pleaded guilty to inciting an unauthorised protest outside the police headquarters.

Health Care Workers and Nursing Home Residents - Top Priority

Vaccine advisers to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are recommending health care workers and residents of long term care facilities as highest priorities for a coronavirus vaccine.  

If the recommendations are approved by the director of the CDC they'll become official recommendations on immunization in the United States — guidance to state officials, trying to meet a Friday deadline for vaccine distribution planning.
