Georgia Secretary Of State Certifies Biden's Victory

Georgia's secretary of state has certified President-elect Joseph Biden's victory in that state. That's another blow for President Donald Trump in his attempt to overturn the U.S. election.

Process of approving Pfizer vaccine begins in UK -- delivery could start from Dec

The British government has formally asked the UK's independent medicines regulator to assess the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. 


Health Secretary Matt Hancock confirmed that the MHRA [Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency] has already started reviewing whether the jab is suitable to be authorised.

EU chief says 'good progress' being made in Brexit negotiations

Ambassadors for the European Union have been told there is still a good chance of a Brexit trade agreement, subject to political will on both sides.

Pfizer and BioNTech seeking emergency FDA approval, as US deaths hit nearly 2000 a day

Emergency approval for the COVID-19 vaccine developed by drug company partners Pfizer and BioNTech, is under review by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

If the data from advanced vaccine trials is deemed safe by the U.S. authorities, approval for roll-out could come within weeks.


This comes as the number of American deaths from the coronavirus continues to surge.

UK BORROWING HITS NEW RECORD

UK government borrowing was £22.3bn ($29.57) in October, the highest figure for the month since records began.

It takes borrowing for this tax year so far to £214.9bn ($285bn), which is £169.1bn more than the same period for in the previous year.

UK Chancellor Rishi Sunak will publish his spending review next week, which will reportedly contain a public sector pay freeze to help stabilise finances.

Doubt over letters from Hong Kong detainees in China

The families of some of the 12 Hong Kongers detained in China for allegedly trying to flee by boat to Taiwan, say they doubt the authenticity of letters they've been sent from the detainees.

Sinopharm: Close to 1 Million Vaccinated in China

High-level Brexit negotiations suspended after Covid-19 infection

US unemployment claims increase

The number of people applying for unemployment benefits in the US has risen sharply.


More than 743,000 workers filed new claims for state benefits last week, before adjusting for seasonal factors, that's an increase of 18,000 from the week before.
