US unemployment claims fall

There's been a sharp fall in unemployment claims in the United States.

It has prompted hopes that layoffs are decreasing despite a surge in

Ethiopia revokes amnesty of some leaders


Intro 

The ongoing crisis in Ethiopia pitting the Nobel Peace Prize-winning Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, against separatists in the country's northern Tigray region, is deepening.

Last week, the government put the country into a state of emergency, after the prime minister launched a military operation to suppress an alleged armed rebellion there.

The Ethiopian parliament has now revoked the immunity of 29 people from Tigray.

UK GDP increases in third quarter

The UK's economy has bounced back from recession with a record quarterly growth of 15.5%. 


The rise in GDP follows a second quarter contraction of just under 20%, which was the biggest ever quarterly fall the country experienced on record.

17 die of unknown illness in Nigeria



At least 17 people have died from an unknown illness in Nigeria's north central state of Benue.
