Biden overtakes Trump in Georgia, as race for the White House intensifies

America remains on a knife-edge, waiting to find out who its next president will be.

Democratic challenger, Joe Biden, has inched ahead in Georgia, but the state has not yet been called because the margin is so narrow.


He is just one or two states from taking the White House from President Donald Trump- who is defiantly insisting (without evidence) the election was rigged.

Joe Biden is on the very brink of becoming the next president of the United States.


The Democratic challenger is confident he has clinched enough electoral college votes thanks to a wave of mail-in votes cast by Democrats in Pennsylvania and Georgia- where the margin is razor-thin.


The U.S. networks are poised to call it, with all eyes on Pennsylvania which is worth a chunky twenty electoral college votes which gets him over the line.


President Donald Trump though, is fighting tooth and nail to stop that from happening.

Joe Biden: "We have to count the votes"

Democratic Presidential nominee Joe Biden has called for calm as votes are being counted in crucial battleground states that will decide who wins the US election.


All eyes are on Georgia, Nevada and Pennsylvania and while some networks have called Arizona for Biden, many others have said the result there is still too close to call.


Tensions are mounting with many US cities seeing protests from both Biden and Trump supporters over the ballot count.


At a news conference in Wilmington, Delaware Joe Biden said democracy requires patience and all the votes have to be counted.

Trump campaign files Nevada lawsuit to stop counting of "improper votes"

President Donald Trump's campaign is challenging the ongoing vote count in the key battleground state of Nevada.

Vote counting continues in tightly-contested US Presidential race

There's still no outcome in the US Presidential election, with Joe Biden continuing to inch towards control of the White House but President Trump taking legal action in a bid to head off defeat.

UK's Finance Minister extends furlough scheme until March as England re-enters lockdown

Chancellor Rishi Sunak has confirmed that the UK government will extend its furlough scheme until the end of March next year.


Almost 10 million people have benefited from the scheme, which was due to end in October.


It'll cover up to 80% of wages for those unable to work over - and after - the new four-week lockdown in England.

BIDEN NEARING VICTORY

RUSSIA'S PARLIAMENT PROPOSES IMMUNITY FOR EX-PRESIDENTS

Russia's lower house is proposing legislation that would extend judicial immunity to ex-presidents.

The law would make it harder for an ex-president to be tried for crimes committed during their term in office, once no longer president.
