UK GOVERNMENT CONCERNED ABOUT EPL PROPOSAL

Plans to change the structure of England's Premier League have been met with scepticism by the UK government.

Culture secretary, Oliver Dowden, says he's "quite sceptical" about the plan, which would see two fewer teams in England's top football league, and fewer domestic competitions.

UK ANNOUNCES THREE-TIER LOCKDOWN SYSTEM

EU Foreign Ministers agree to impose sanctions on Belarus' Lukashenko

British Airways replacing CEO as airline faces 'worst crisis'

The UK's flag carrier airline, British Airways, has announced it's replacing its chief executive.


Alex Cruz, who has been with BA since 2016, will be replaced by Sean Doyle, the boss of the Irish carrier Aer Lingus.

Fresh fighting erodes Azeri-Armenian truce

A new tiered local lockdown system will be announced later (Monday) by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

English regions will be put into medium, high, or very high alert levels depending on their covid-19 infection rates.

Chinese patrol ships enter Japan’s territorial waters

For the 18th time this year, Chinese government ships have entered Japan's territorial waters off the disputed Senkaku islands. Grace Lee reports.

According to the Japanese coast guard,


Two Chinese patrol ships entered the waters on Sunday - 


And have repeatedly been trying to approach a Japanese fishing boat.


The coast guard has issued warnings to the vessels to leave immediately.


This is the first time since August 28th that Chinese ships have entered these waters…


The Senkaku - or Daioyu - islands are currently under Japanese administration - 


Although their sovereignty is claimed by both,


China and Taiwan as well.


It's becoming an increasingly contentious issue for Tokyo's relationship with Beijing.

S. Korea lowers social distancing to lowest level

South Korea has lowered social distancing guidelines to the lowest level as new infections of the coronavirus continue to fall. The eased measures mean high-risk businesses are allowed to reopen and fans can return to sports stadiums.
