Hong Kong government defiant over national security law

Hong Kong's Chief Executive Carrie Lam has dismissed international criticism of the city's national security law, saying it has restored balance to the city. In a speech to mark the National Day holiday she said the Hong Kong government was committed to fully implementing the legislation.

Vatican blocks Pompeo from meeting the Pope

Bronfman sentenced to 81 months in ‘sex cult’ case

The heiress to the Seagram liquor fortune has been sentenced to 81
months for her role in a group that has been called a sex cult.

Indoor dining returns to NYC amid fears of Covid-19 spike

For the first time in months, restaurants in New York City are once

Former FBI Director warns indebted officials are security risk as President's large debt revealed

Former FBI Director James Comey has warned that government officials with significant personal debt could pose a risk to national security.


Mr Comey was responding to questions about President Trump's finances during congressional testimony.

Former Audi CEO in court over dieselgate scandal

The first top executive linked to the infamous dieselgate scandal has been put on trial in Germany. A Munich Court will probe how much the then CEO of Audi knew about the installation of 'defeat devices' in cars across the Volkswagen group. 

So far, Volkswagen has paid 30 billion euros in fines and compensation over the 2015 scandal. But no top executives have been sent to prison in Germany - something local prosecutors hope to change.

UK GOVERNMENT ACCUSED OF "DISREGARDING" PARLIAMENT OVER CORONAVIRUS LAWS

UK Q2 GDP REVISED TO CONTRACTION OF 19.8%

The Office for National Statistics estimates UK GDP contracted by 19.8% in the second quarter.

That's a slight revision from their earlier estimate of 20.4%, but still means it's the largest quarterly contraction since ONS records began in 1955 -- and that the UK is in recession.

Armenia claims Turkey shot down its fighter jet
