DRC ARMED GROUP KILLINGS

US to Push Chinese Apps Out of US Stores


The row between Beijing and Washington over Chinese apps is intensifying.

US Markets up on stimulus & trade talks, Novavax & Disney

US markets climbed Wednesday on optimism over stimulus talks, US-China trade, another promising Covid-19 vaccine, AND big streaming news from Disney.


The gains offset dismal private sector jobs data.


The Dow Jones climbed 1.4 percent, the S&P was up 0.6 percent, and Nasdaq gained half a percent.

Ex-Google Engineer Sentenced Over Trade Secret Theft

A former engineer at Google's self-driving car unit has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for stealing trade secrets and sharing them with rival firm Uber.


The judge in the case said the threat of prison would help deter similar crimes in the future.

Senior lawmakers say the UK government made a mistake by not catching "imported infections" from other European countries, earlier in the coronavirus pandemic.

The Home Affairs select committee, made up of MPs from multiple parties, says 10,000 travellers with coronavirus entered the country before quarantine rules were introduced.

COVID-19 has killed over 46,000 people in the UK, and its Office for National Statistics says England's suffered the highest level of excess deaths - so far - of any country in Europe.

UK OFFERS HELP TO LEBANON AFTER MAJOR EXPLOSION

The UK has joined other countries in offering support to Lebanon after an explosion killed at least a hundred people and destroyed parts of its capital city, Beirut.

Lebanon's president, Michel Aoun, says nearly three thousand tonnes of ammonium nitrate exploded at the port.

India's COVID cases continue to rise as states ramp up testing

COVID-19 cases in India continue to rise at a fast pace as the country moves into the third phase of reopening the economy.

India reported more than 52,000 cases of the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours.
