One third of Russians would not have coronavirus vaccine

A third of Russians would not have a vaccine against coronavirus even if it was proven to work, according to a new poll. The country currently has the world's second biggest outbreak, as Lucy Taylor reports from Moscow.

UK UNEMPLOYMENT JUMPS 50 000

UK unemployment jumped 50 000 to 1.35 million in the three months to March.

The period only includes one week of Britain's full lockdown - so is expected to rise much further in the next quarter's figures.

Separate figures show the number of people claiming unemployment benefit soared by 856 500 to over 2 million in April as coronavirus restrictions continued.

Super cyclone Amphan to make landfall in India

EU and other countries back calls for an independent COVID19 inquiry at World Health Assembly

The European Union and other countries have called for an independent evaluation of the World Health Organisation's (WHO) response to the coronavirus pandemic. 

Australia had called for an independent inquiry - a resolution backed by more than half of the WHO's member countries at its 73rd annual meeting.

Russia's lowest daily rise in weeks

UK SCIENTISTS CAUTIOUS ABOUT COVID19 VACCINE
