Ethiopia Wants Firearms Registration

Ethiopia is calling for registration of firearms in the country in the next two years .
The country hopes this will enable the security apparatus to identify illegal firearms that are reportedly in the hands of civilians .

US Treasury Borrowing Trillions


The US Treasury Department reportedly plans to borrow nearly 3 trillion dollars to cover the federal government's response the coronavirus pandemic. 

And the state of California is borrowing money from the federal government so it can pay unemployment benefits to millions of people out of work because of COVID-19.

European Commission holds 7.5billion euro COVID19 fundraiser

The EU has co-hosted a COVID-19 pledging conference with the aim to raise 8.2billion US dollars to fund COVID-19 vaccine and treatment research.

China calls Pompeo "insane" over Covid-19 lab claims

China has called US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo "insane" after he

UK to launch hi-tech testing and tracing scheme to tackle coronavirus

The British government is launching a testing and tracing program that ministers hope will finally see Britain get a grip on the spread of coronavirus. 

 

The UK's Health Secretary Matt Hancock is unveiling plans for a South Korean-style "test, track and trace" scheme designed to hunt down every fresh outbreak of the disease and prevent a second peak.

AUSTRALIA: CSIRO denies COVID research with Wuhan Institute of Virology

Australian Liberal MP Sarah Henderson has called for all virus research with foreign nationals to be stopped until a safety and national security review is done.
The call from a member of the government follows claims by Sydney's Daily Telegraph that the CSIRO's bio-containment facility at Geelong in Victoria, has been engaging in research, jointly funded by the Australian and Chinese governments, in conjunction with the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
The Scientific research organisation has issued a statement denying any such research exists.

Ugandan University Begins COVID-19 Tests

One of Africa's oldest Universities has started testing for COVID-19 after Uganda's Ministry of Health approved its hospital lab to conduct the tests.

Makerere University already released results from the first tests run that were conducted from a community survey for COVID-19.

EU leaders pledge to raise £6.6bn to fund COVID-19 vaccine and research

European leaders have pledged to raise billions of pounds to help find a vaccine and treatments for COVID-19. 


An online conference is being held on Monday aiming to raise £6.6bn in funding, to support the "international alliance" developing a response to the pandemic.

The UK government is in discussions with unions and business groups about ways to ease lockdown restrictions and reopen the country's economy.

Measures being considered include encouraging fewer meetings, moving desks apart, stopping hot-desking, and staggering working hours.
