EU's top science advisor resigns citing disappointment with COVID-19 response

The EU's top scientist has resigned from its flagship science funding body, criticising the European response to COVID-19. 

Professor Mauro Ferrari announced his resignation on Tuesday from the European Research Council, citing his failure to set up a programme to fight the coronavirus. 

But the ERC has issued a statement saying his resignation followed a unanimous vote of no confidence.

Tanzania records two more Covid-19 recoveries as infection slows

In a media briefing, she said that two more patients for Covid-19 have tested negative in all three tests taken. One is in Dar es Salaam and the other in Arusha. The country's total recoveries now stand at five.

New York sees highest single-day rise in Covid-19 deaths
