UK IN LOCKDOWN

The UK is in its first full day of an effective lockdown to try and slow the spread of coronavirus.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the move in a national address.

People are being directed to stay home - and should only leave for very limited purposes.

Restrictions will be in place for three weeks at least.

Shadow Health Secretary Jon Ashworth says he supports the move.

Uganda Confirms Eight New Cases of COVID-19

Uganda has confirmed  eight new cases of COVID-19 bringing the total number of  cases in the country to nine.


The Ministry of Health says all the nine cases are all imported and came into the country from Dubai.

Moon to double aid package for struggling businesses

South Korean President Moon Jae-in has expanded emergency funding for businesses to $80 billion U.S. dollars as the economy slumps amid the coronavirus outbreak. South Korea has been hit the hardest in Asia outside of mainland China with more than 9,000 cases.

Trump considers reopening US economy even as Coronavirus death toll rises

Even as the Coronavirus continues to spread rapidly throughout the United States and the death toll rises, President Donald Trump is considering how to reopen the American economy as early as next week.


More than 100 million Americans — nearly one in three — are under orders from their state governors to stay at home but Mr Trump says that needs to change sooner rather than later

PG&E to Plead Guilty

The California utility Pacific Gas and Electric Corporation will accept criminal responsibility for starting the deadliest wildfire in California history.

Germany and Greece joins ranks of EU countries under lockdown

Germany and Greece have joined a number of European countries imposing nationwide lockdowns to contain the spread of coronavirus. 

Chancellor Angela Merkel announced new measures on Sunday, before going into quarantine herself after a doctor who'd given her a vaccination tested positive for COVID-19.
