A man has gone on a stabbing spree across Melbourne's eastern suburbs killing two people, critically injuring another and wounding a protective services officer, before police shot him dead in a stand off.

AUSTRALIA: High court judges reserve their decision on Cardinal George Pell appeal

UK EMERGENCY COMMITTEE MEETS ON CORONAVIRUS

The UK is set to announce new measures to try and slow the spread of coronavirus.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is chairing an emergency COBRA meeting on Covid-19 on Thursday.

Italy closes all bars and restaurants in attempt to stop spread of COVID-19

Coronavirus: US halts travel from Europe to US

To slow the spread of coronavirus, US President Donald Trump is
halting all travel from Europe to America.

The 30-day ban comes after new cases and deaths skyrocketed in Italy,
with the Italian government putting the country on lockdown.

President Trump also said he'd ask the US Congress to release $50
billion dollars of funding to provide low-interest loans, and cut
payroll taxes to bolster the economy.

He laid out the travel ban as a crucial way to stop the virus spreading further.

UK CUTS INTEREST RATES TO MINIMISE CORONAVIRUS IMPACT

UK Health Minister has coronavirus

A UK Health Minister, Nadine Dorries, is in self-isolation after testing positive for coronavirus, sparking alarm through political circles about who else in Westminster may be infected. 

 

The 62 year-old MP hopes she's "over the worst" after being laid up with a fever and cough since the weekend.

 

But health officials are scrambling to track down all those who have been in contact with her since she started to feel ill, including the Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who hosted an event at Downing Street that she attended recently.
