Russia and Turkey sign ceasefire to stop conflict in Idlib, Syria

The Russian and Turkish presidents have agreed to a new ceasefire in Syria, after months of heavy fighting that has displaced nearly a million people. 

The truce will take effect from midnight in Syria on Friday, with President Vladimir Putin saying he hoped it would end the humanitarian crisis.

SADC LOOKING TO IMPROVE LABOUR POLICIES IN THE REGION

The Unemployment rate in the region is between nine and 11 percent, almost double the global average of 5.1 percent.

FIRST PERSON DIES FROM CORONAVIRUS IN UK

EU Chief Negotiator say key diverges clear after first round of UK-EU trade talks

The EU's Chief Negotiator has been speaking in Brussels following the end of the first round of UK-EU talks on the post-Brexit future relationship. 

Michel Barnier said that whilst a good deal was possible by the deadline of the end of the year, there were some key diverges in areas like competition rules and police cooperation. 

The next round of talks will take place in London in March.

UK ENTERS "DELAY" PHASE OF CORONAVIRUS REPONSE

The UK is moving into the "delay" phase of its coronavirus response, as the number of cases hits ninety.

This means it's likely the virus will not be contained, and will probably spread throughout the UK population.

The UK's chief medical officer says the aim now is to delay the peak of infections until the warmer months, when the nation's health service is under less pressure.

Flybe - Europe’s largest regional airline - goes bust, citing coronavirus as a reason for collapse


Europe's largest regional airline, Flybe (pron: FLY-BEE) officially went into administration on Thursday morning after plummeting demand for air travel due to the coronavirus outbreak. All further flights have now been cancelled and around 2,000 jobs are at risk. 

The loss of the operator, based in south-West England, has been described as "disastrous" for UK regions.

Commuter train derails in France

21 people have been injured after a high-speed TGV train running between Strasbourg and Paris derailed on Thursday morning. 

The state-run SNCF rail company said one person is in a serious condition.

Men convicted of 2012 Delhi rape to hang this month

Four men convicted of the 2012 gang-rape and murder of a student in Delhi are due to be hanged on 20th March.

This is the fourth death warrant for the men that has been issued in a case that sparked nationwide protests and forced the country to strengthen its anti-rape laws.

The UK's parliament could reportedly be shut for up to five months to prevent MPs spreading the coronavirus.

Officials are said to be in talks about the possibility, if Covid-19 starts to spread rapidly.

LA County Declares Health Emergency

Bloomberg drops out of Presidential race
