He forced Pete Buttigieg, the former Mayor of South Bend, Indiana, into second place, with Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota coming third.
The result is a disaster for former Vice President Joe Biden, and raises questions about the future viability of his campaign.
Senator Sanders told throngs of supporters in New Hampshire that his win sets the stage for further success ahead.

Former US Vice President Joe Biden says he's staying in the Presidential race, despite a deeply disappointing finish in the New Hampshire primaries.
