UK PM OUTLINES DESIRED EU TRADE DEAL

UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, says the UK will not agree to any level playing field agreements with the European Union.

The UK left the EU last week, and in a speech laying out how the future relationship would look, he said the UK will not agree to any arrangement which leaves the UK subject to EU courts.

If this cannot be agreed, he insists Britain is not afraid to walk away without a deal.

UK TO TOUGHEN TERRORISM SENTENCING

The UK government says it will tighten the system for dealing with people convicted of terrorism offences.

It comes after a man was shot dead in South London on Sunday after attacking people with a knife, while wearing a fake suicide vest.

Sudesh Amman was released from prison a week ago after serving half his sentence for terror offences.

It comes just months after 2019's London Bridge attack which saw two people stabbed to death by a man who'd been released from jail on licence - also after serving half his sentence for a terrorism conviction.

Former UK national anti-terrorism co-ordinator Nick Aldworth thinks the government's response is too simplistic.
