Battle Against the ADF Rebels

The Congolese army says members of the Allied Democratic Forces rebel group have killed 60 soldiers in the East of the Democratic Republic of Congo since October last year.

General Leon Kasonga described the soldiers as brave combatants who fell in the battle against the Islamist group in the Eastern town of Beni.

Students attacked in one of India's premier institutions - JNU

Over thirty students and professors were injured when a masked mob armed with sticks and iron rods entered one of India's premier institutions in New Delhi.

This has sparked fresh protests across the country with hundreds of students demonstrating in solidarity with those attacked.

Thailand faces its worst drought in decades

2020 has hardly begun and weather is already having a huge impact across the Asia Pacific region. Large swaths of Australia are still on fire and floods caused by the largest recorded downpour since records began have killed 60 people in Indonesia. To the north, Thailand is now bracing for its worst drought in decades.

TRUMP THREATENS IRAQ WITH SANCTIONS

US President Donald Trump says Iraq will face - quote - "very big sanctions" if it follows through with a parliamentary vote to expel foreign troops.

He also confirmed her was serious about ordering airstrikes on Iran's cultural sites, an action that would almost certainly be a war crime under international law.

Trump says US does not seek regime change in Iran

President Trump says he ordered the assassination of a top Iranian military commander in order to stop a war, not to start one.

He said the United States is not seeking regime change in Tehran, but claimed General Qasem Soleimani was poised to launch fresh attacks on American interests when the drone strike occurred.

JAILED TANZANIAN JOURNALIST TO MISS MOTHER’S FUNERAL

UK government calls for de-escalation following US air strike which killed Iranian General Qasem Soleimani

The UK government is urging "all parties to de-escalate" after the killing of Qasem Soleimani (Pron: Kassem Solay-Mah-Nee) in a US air strike ordered by US President Donald Trump on Friday.

DR Congo Records 5000 Cases of Fatal Viral Disease - Monkey Pox
