Democrats call for White House aides to testify at impeachment trial; accuse President of bribery in report

The US Senate's top Democrat has called for White House aides to testify at President Donald Trump's expected impeachment trial. But Republicans, who control the Senate, want to keep it short without witnesses.
Meanwhile Democrats have accused President Trump of bribery in a new report on the two articles of impeachment.

U.S. Praises Trade Deal as China Remains Cautious

Phase one of the US-China trade deal is yet to be signed, but the U.S. is already praising the agreement, while China remains a little cautious.

UK’s December economic stats lack festive cheer

UNHCR Concerned About Uganda Refugee Clashes

The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) is concerned about the recent deadly violence in a refugee settlement in North Eastern Uganda.

Protests erupt all across India after the passing of the Citizenship Bill

Protests continue in India for the sixth straight day against a controversial bill that will provide citizenship to non-Muslim immigrants from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

UK opposition party leadership sorry for election loss

The leader of the UK Labour Party, Jeremy Corbyn, and his close ally John McDonnell have apologised over the party's "catastrophic" defeat in Thursday's election, which saw them lose 59 seats.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is welcoming new Conservative MPs to Westminster after his landslide election win.

Mr Johnson will carry out a small cabinet reshuffle and bring legislation to the House of Commons later in the week to move forward with his Brexit deal.

Meanwhile, the opposition Labour Party has to choose a new leader after its resounding defeat last week.

Many in the party feel the next leader can't be a London MP, or someone who fought to overturn Brexit.

Rescuers Hunt for Survivors in the Philippines

Uganda-Rwanda Officials Meet in Kampala Over Border Closure

The Rwandan Government says its border with Uganda will stay closed until they are sure their citizens are safe.

 

Rwanda accuses Uganda of arresting its nationals and keeping them in illegal detention centers without trial.

The US and China have announced a preliminary trade agreement which could soften tensions between the world's two largest economies.

U.N. Calls India’s New Citizenship Law “Discriminatory”
