Hong Kong Campus Siege Continues for Fifth Day

Dozens of protesters are still barricaded inside a Hong Kong university, where a police siege continues for a fifth straight day. The standoff began on Sunday evening following violent clashes in the area. This all comes as a Hong Kong democracy bill has been passed by the US congress. Grace Lee has more from Hong Kong.

Seoul official says BTS will not be exempt from military

South Korean pop superstars BTS will not be exempt from military service under tightening government regulations. All able-bodied South Korean men are required to do two years active duty, though top athletes and classical musicians have received waivers in the past.

The legislation now heads to President Trump's desk where he will either sign or veto the bill

UN members clash over Washington’s Israeli settlement announcement

Members of the United Nations Security Council have clashed over
Washington's decision to change its stance on Israeli settlements.

On Monday the Trump administration reversed four decades of U.S.
policy by declaring that Israeli settlements built in the West Bank
don't violation international law.

EU Ambassador says Trump directed Ukraine pressure

President Trump's EU Ambassador, Gordon Sondland, has told an impeachment inquiry that President Trump directed pressure on Ukraine to open an investigation into his campaign rival Joe Biden.

In an explosive opening statement, Ambassador Sondland cited a clear "quid pro quo" linking a White House meeting for Ukraine's leader to investigations into Biden.

Two American service members killed in Afghanistan

FORMER UK CONSULATE WORKER SAYS HE WAS TORTURED IN CHINA

A former employee of the UK's consulate in Hong Kong says he was tortured and accused of inciting political unrest when he visited mainland China.

Simon Cheng, a Hong Kong citizen, had worked for the British government for almost two years.

But in August, while there for a work trip, he claims he was detained, tortured, and interrogated about his role in the Hong Kong protests.

US Senate passes Hong Kong human rights act unanimously

US Senators have unanimously passed legislation aimed at protecting human rights in Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act will now go to the lower house of representatives, which earlier approved its own version of the measure.

The two chambers are expected to resolve their minor differences swiftly before the legislation is sent to President Donald Trump for his approval.

US walks out of South Korea talks

Talks between the United States and South Korea over troop funding ended abruptly on Tuesday, after just 2 hours of negotiations. Epstein Guards Charged

Two guards who were on duty the night Jeffrey Epstein died in a Manhattan jail have been charged with falsifying records.

UN rejects US position that Israeli settlements are internationally legit

The United Nations has rejected the American government's change-of-mind about the legal legitimacy of Israeli settlements, after the U.S. said Monday it believes they are in line with international law. 


The UN's human rights agency maintained Tuesday that the settlements in the occupied territories violate existing international rules, and the U.S. stance does not change that.
