US walks out of South Korea talks

Talks between the United States and South Korea over troop funding ended abruptly on Tuesday, after just 2 hours of negotiations. The military partners have been trying to hammer out an agreement on how to divvy up the cost of maintaining roughly 28,000 American forces in South Korea.  Toni Waterman has more from Washington, D.C

Epstein Guards Charged

Two guards who were on duty the night Jeffrey Epstein died in a Manhattan jail have been charged with falsifying records. 

Epstein was in custody, ahead of a trial on sex-trafficking charges.

UN rejects US position that Israeli settlements are internationally legit

The United Nations has rejected the American government's change-of-mind about the legal legitimacy of Israeli settlements, after the U.S. said Monday it believes they are in line with international law. 


The UN's human rights agency maintained Tuesday that the settlements in the occupied territories violate existing international rules, and the U.S. stance does not change that.

US and Australian hostages freed in Taliban prisoner swap


Two university professors have been freed by the Afghan Taliban, after being held hostage for nearly three years, in exchange for three imprisoned senior militants.  The long-awaited prisoner exchange, which had been delayed for several days, is intended to be a goodwill gesture to restart peace talks with the Taliban after they broke down in September.

JULIAN ASSANGE RAPE INVESTIGATION DROPPED BY SWEDEN

The co-founder of Wikileaks, Julian Assange, is no longer under investigation by Swedish prosecutors for a rape alleged to have occurred in 2010.

Mr Assange, who has always denied the accusations, avoided extradition to Sweden by seeking refuge at the Ecuadorian embassy in London, where he stayed for seven years.

Six killed in avalanche in Kashmir glacier

An avalanche killed six people in the Himalayas, including four army personnel.

N. Korean diplomat says not interested talks that 'bring us nothing'

North Korea dismisses Trump meeting calls unless concessions made

North Korea has announced it has no interest in further meetings with
U.S. President Donald Trump unless substantial concessions are made.

Over the weekend the U.S. postponed a joint military exercise with
South Korea as an "act of goodwill" to Pyongyang.
