Democrats step up impeachment inquiries

House Democrats are set to step up their impeachment inquiry as The White House said it would not cooperate with the probe.

On Tuesday, White House counsel Pat A. Cipollone wrote a letter to Democrats accusing them of wanted to overturn the results of the 2016 election and suggesting their inquiry was without merit.

Kashmir schools see weak turnout, after curb lifted

As authorities lifted curfew imposed in parts of the Kashmir valley, schools and colleges have been reopened, but student attendance has been poor.

Large parts of the Kashmir valley remain under a lock-down, with mobile and internet services being disabled.

Security stepped ahead of Modi-Xi summit

Over 500 police personnel have been deployed and residents have been issued identity cards  in the state of Tamil Nadu ahead of a 2 day summit between the leaders of India and China.


The temple town of Mahabalipuram in south India is set to host the second informal summit between the leaders since the previous meeting in Wuhan last year.

Two people killed in shooting in eastern Germany


German police say two people have been killed in a shooting in the city of Halle in the east of the country.

According to local media reports, the incident took place near a synagogue - Wednesday marks the Jewish holy day of Yom Kippur.

UK MINISTERS BAULK AT SUGGESTION CONSERVATIVE PARTY COULD CAMPAIGN FOR NO DEAL

UK ministers in the cabinet of Prime Minister Boris Johnson, are expressing concern about a mooted change in policy to explicitly endorse no deal.


In a meeting of ministers, at least five expressed anxiety about any move to campaign for a no deal exit.


Currently, the government says it's fighting for a deal, but is ready to leave without one at the end of October if an arrangement can't be reached with the EU.

Germany falls four places in Global Competitiveness Index


Germany has fallen four places in the World Economic Forum's Global Competitiveness Index, slipping to seventh position.

Nigerian president presents record $34 billion budget for 2020

BREXIT TALKSS CONTINUE DESPITE PESSIMISM

Brexit talks continue between the UK and EU despite what Ireland describes as 'big gaps' between the two sides.

On Tuesday the UK government briefed that German Chancellor Angela Merkel had signaled a position which made a Brexit deal almost impossible.

Russia calls for caution in Syria

Russia says it was not informed in advance by the United States or by Turkey about America's plans to pull back some troops from Syria's northeastern border.

The Russian President has also urged caution by all sides with efforts underway to find a political resolution to the now eight-year long civil war.

White House withdraws all co-operation from impeachment probe sparking Constitutional standoff

The White House says it won't co-operate with the Democrats impeachment investigation of President Trump, describing it as an attempt to overturn the result of the 2016 Presidential election.


The move came shortly after President Trump moved to block the US Ambassador to the EU from testifying on Capitol Hill about the President's communications with Ukraine.
