UK GOVT PREPARES FOR BREXIT TALKS COLLAPSE

The UK government is briefing that Brexit talks with the EU could collapse within days.

That would set the scene for a possible Brexit extension and then a UK general election.

Talks over British proposals continue in Brussels, but the EU continues to insist UK plans breach European red lines.

It's reported the government will attempt to avoid a delay to Brexit if talks fail, and press ahead with a No Deal exit.

The move has been criticised by members of the US congress including President Trump ally, Senator Lindsay Graham, who has threatened to introduce bipartisan sanctions against Turkey if it invades Syria.
