New York City mayor suspends Presidential bid

New York City mayor Bill de Blasio has dropped out of the race to the
White House.

He's the latest candidate to suspend their campaign to win the

Indian Climate Change protestors wan't country's leaders to take public transport

In New Delhi, one of the world's most polluted cities, students gathered to protest inaction against climate change.

Top Brexit negotiators meet in Brussels

The lead Brexit negotiators from the European Union and the United Kingdom are meeting in Brussels with less than six weeks to go until Britain's planned withdrawal from the EU.

The two sides are still trying to agree on contingency plans for the Irish border - the so-called Irish backstop - an issue which could lead to a Brexit without a deal in place.

Indian prime minister Narendra Modi to visit US

India's prime minister Narendra Modi is travelling to the United States this weekend for an official visit lasting a week.

Mr Modi will meet US president Donald Trump twice during the trip. This comes amid tense trade relations between the US and India.

Amnesty Report Accuses HK Police of Alarming Pattern of Violence

An investigation by human rights group Amnesty International has warned of an alarming pattern of violence used by police in Hong Kong since the start of a crisis there three months ago.

It said, among it's findings, that the force had resorted to retaliatory force and had tortured and mistreated protesters before and even after arrest.

The UK's Supreme Court has concluded three days of hearings into whether Boris Johnson's suspension of Parliament was 'unlawful'.

Mr Johnson's government suspended Parliament for five weeks - saying it wanted to put together a new legislative agenda.

His critics say it was to avoid scrutiny on Brexit.

Delhi's public transport comes to a halt due to protests across the city

OECD revises down global economic forecast

The world economy is facing its weakest growth since the 2008 recession, according to the OECD.

GHANA CUTS COCOA PROJECTION FOR 2019/2020 CROP SEASON

Ghana has cut down its projections for the sale of its cash crop, Cocoa for the 2019/2020 season by ten thousand metric tonnes. 

The country had projected to sell about nine hundred and fifty thousand metric tonnes of its cocoa beans on the market this season but has failed to meet that target. 

It follows the destruction of many cocoa farms by the swollen-shoot virus disease in the Western part of the country – where most of its cocoa is derived.

Xenophobic Attacks: Another batch of Nigerians return from South Africa


A second batch of Nigerians who requested to leave South Africa as a result of xenophobic attacks have returned to their country. 

The repatriation comes as a response to xenophobic attacks against foreign nationals in South Africa during which properties and businesses belonging to Nigerians were destroyed.

The incidents have raised tensions between two of Africa's economic giants.

Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) annually is set to rise by 268 percent following completion of the expansion of Berth Two at Dar es Salaam Port. 

 

The TPA director-general, Mr. Deusdedith Kakoko confirmed  that TPA's area now has the capacity to handle 600,000 vehicles per year, up from 163,000 vehicles that were handled last year.

Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has apologised over a photo that's emerged of him in 'brown face'.

Time Magazine obtained the picture of him wearing skin-darkening make-up at an Arabian Nights themed party in 2001.

Mr Trudeau says he won't resign over the picture, which comes as he fights for re-election next month.
