AUSTRALIA: Public servant fails in free speech appeal

The sacking of a public servant in Australia who sent anonymous tweets criticising the federal government seven years ago is sending a chill across the bureaucracy.
The full bench of the High Court has unanimously found Michaela Banerji breached the public service code of conduct and couldn't claim compensation arising from her 2013 dismissal.

India's central bank cuts lending rates to speed up growth

The Reserve Bank of India has cut lending rates for the fourth straight time in 2019 in a bid to boost economic growth which has been at a five year low.

The central bank has forecast a growth rate of 6.9%, down from 7%.

Lockdown in Kashmir continues after India strips region of special status

Indian administered Jammu and Kashmir remains tense but calm a day after New Delhi revoked a special status for the region.
