EU PUNISHES TURKEY FOR CYPRUS DRILLING

The European Union has approved measures to punish Turkey over its drilling off the coast of Cyprus.

EU Foreign Ministers decided to pull millions in financial aid and stall high level talks for what it describes as "illegal activities" by Ankara.

Responding to the moves the Turkish Foreign Ministry said their drilling operation would not be affected "in the slightest" and there's no need to take the EU's steps seriously.

'TULIP' PLANS REJECTED

London's Mayor is rejecting plans to build a new skyscraper in the British capital, known as 'the Tulip'.

The 300m tower in the City of London would have been the second tallest building in western Europe, designed by Norman Foster's practice.

Its backers said the structure would attract 1.2 million visitors a year to its viewing areas.

But the Mayor of London's office says it's not of sufficient quality for a prime location, and would harm views of the city's skyline.

Paul Finch from the Architect Journal says the decision doesn't make sense.
