France says Iran has arrested dual national

The French foreign ministry says a Franco-Iranian academic has been arrested in Iran and denied consular access.

The arrest comes as France, along with other European nations, scrambles to save the 2015 nuclear deal.

282 people arrested as Algerian football fans celebrate in France

At least 282 people have been arrested in France after Algeria beat Nigeria 2-1 in the Africa Cup of Nations semi-final. 

Loud street celebrations which lasted until the early morning turned violent in several French cities.

It follows similar scenes on Thursday when Algeria was victorious in the previous round of the competition.

Police arrest 25 in Moscow protests

Police in Moscow detained dozens of protesters during a rally against a possible ban on opposition candidates competing in upcoming city elections.

Almost two thousand people gathered outside Moscow City Hall during the protest on Sunday afternoon. Organisers have called for another rally later on Monday.
