French police officers to be tried over Yellow Vest protests

The public prosecutor in Paris says a number of police officers will face trial over complaints of violence during the yellow vest protests. 

Several videos on social media show riot police using heavy handed tactics which have left protesters injured. 

Alleged police violence has been a core complaint of the yellow vest movement.

Pompeo, Merkel expected to discuss defense spending during Berlin visit

United States secretary of state Mike Pompeo started his five day European trip with a visit to Berlin where he meets German chancellor Angela Merkel as well as foreign minister Heiko Maas.


They're expected to discuss issues of contention including military spending and Germany's dealings with the Chinese telecom firm Huawei.

Disney may ditch Georgia if abortion law takes effect

Disney's Chief Executive says the media company may stop making films
in the U.S. state of Georgia if an abortion law comes into effect.

This month the state's governor signed a law banning abortions if a
fetal heartbeat can be detected.

This is usually around six weeks into a pregnancy but the law is
expected to face major legal challenges.

Senior Democrats join calls for impeachment


Several senior Democrats have adding their support to begin impeachment proceedings against President Trump, but party leaders are so far holding off.

Eritrea welcomes US symbol of confidence


Eritrea has welcomed its removal from the list of countries deemed as uncooperative in fight against terrorism by the United States.


In May 2017, the US accused the Eritrean government of funding the Al-Shabaab militant group, based in Somalia.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take oath

After winning a massive majority in India's elections last week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to take oath in New Delhi.

An alliance led by Mr Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party swept the general election, winning 354 seats in the 545-member lower house or Lok Sabha.

White House Wanted USS John McCain to Disappear During Trump Visit

Huawei asks US to speed up court case

Chinese tech giant Huawei has asked US courts to speed up its lawsuit against the US government as it fights restrictions on the company.

Mueller says obstruction charges against Trump were "not an option"

Robert Mueller, the Special Prosecutor who investigated ties between Donald Trump and the Russians, says obstruction of justice charges against the President were "not an option" available to him.

Hurricane injures 12 in U.S. state of Kansas

Louvre Museum reopens following staff strike

The Louvre Museum in Paris has reopened after staff walked out over working conditions on Monday.

Workers at the world famous attraction say visitors can get aggressive and that emergency evacuation procedures are inadequate.
