U.S. Democrats Threaten to Force US Attorney General to Testify

U.S. Democrats are threatening to subpoena the US Attorney General William Barr, who is refusing to testify before Congress.

They want to probe his handling of the report by Special Counsel Robert Mueller into Russian influence.

Trump accused of making more than 10K false statements since he became President

Compromise Talks over Brexit Resume

The British Government says it still intends to get MPs to approve a Brexit deal before the 22nd May, to avoid taking part in European elections.


The incumbent Conservative Party government is resuming talks with opposition Labour, to try to break the impasse over the country's exit from the EU.


Lawmakers need to approve an EU withdrawal bill in order to leave the bloc, failure to do so has led to two extensions of the Brexit deadline.

India votes in fourth phase of seven-phase general election

Over 70 constituencies in nine states are voting in the fourth round of India's massive general elections.


This phase has more than 127 million eligible voters. The last round of voting takes place on May 19 with results due on May 23.

French government gets down to business after Macron promises

Four days after French President Emmanuel Macron made a series of major policy announcements, prime minister Edouard Philippe is holding a cabinet meeting on Monday to work out how to put them into practice.

SPANISH ELECTIONS

The governing Spanish Socialist Workers' Party has won the country's third election in four years - but it has failed to win a majority.


Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and party leader said "the future has won" after his party won about 30 percent of the vote.


He now has the tricky task of forming a government with the help of other parties.

Synagogue Shooting Declared a Hate Crime

A shooting at a synagogue in southern California is being described as a hate crime. A woman was killed after reportedly attempting to save her rabbi. Three were injured by a man wielding a semi-automatic rifle, which reportedly jammed during the incident. It came exactly six months after a mass shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue. A 19-year-old suspect has been detained and is also being investigated in connection with a fire at a mosque. Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein, who was shot in the hand, addressed the media...

Japan's Emperor Akihito Preparing to Abdicate on Tuesday

Japanese Emperor Akihito will end his three-decade reign this week when he abdicates on Tuesday.

His son Crown Prince Naruhito will become emperor on Wednesday.

Akihito has cited concerns about his age and declining health and is the first Japanese emperor to abdicate in 200 years.

Iran's Foreign Ministry Thinks Trump is Inadvertently Being Pushed to War

Iran's Foreign Minister Javad Zarif has told U.S. media that he thinks four influential figures intend to push Donald Trump into conflict with Iran.

Trump's National Security Advisor, one of the four named by Zarif, describes the comments as 'completely ridiculous' and part a 'carefully prepared propaganda script'.

The other three are the leaders of Israel and the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

US Not Ready for Multi-Party Talks on North Korea


The United States isn't ready to abandon one-on-one nuclear talks with North Korea. 

President Trump's National Security Adviser John Bolton said President Trump was still open to a third summit with Kim Jong Un.

Last week Russian President Vladimir Putin met Chairman Kim and then suggested a return to what's known as the six-party talks.

That also includes Russia, China, South Korea, and Japan.

Fifteen bodies found following shoot out and explosion in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka's police and military say fifteen people have been killed following a shoot out and blast in Sri Lanka as a raid took place following the suicide bombings on Easter Sunday.

Explosives and ISIS uniforms were found at another location.

Russian Maria Butina Sentenced Over US Infiltration

Russian agent Maria Butina has been sentenced in connection with her infiltration of influential Republican circles ahead of the 2016 American elections.
