Key holidays in North Korea are sometimes marked with a massive military parade, or even the test of a weapon.

But, according to AFP, the Day of the Sun brought mostly teary tributes.

The news agency says ten of thousands of citizens paid their respects and laid flowers before the statues of Kim Il-sung and his son, Kim Jong-il.

The late founder's grandson and current ruler, Kim Jong-un, has signaled he wants to continue nuclear talks with U.S. President Donald Trump.

Avoiding any boast of military might may also be sign Kim is trying to keep the mood peaceful for another summit with the U.S. president.

A Brexit deal needs to be agreed by MPs within weeks if the UK is to avoid taking part in European elections in May.

Labour Shadow Cabinet member Andy McDonald says it's going to be hard to reach an agreement with the government on his party's priorities.

LABOUR: UK SHOULD NOT EXTRADITE ASSANGE

The UK's opposition Labour Party says Julian Assange should not be extradited to the US.

The Wikileaks founder faces computer hacking charges in America, and is the subject of an extradition request.

However, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn says the UK would be handing him over to the Americans for 'exposing evidence of atrocities in Iraq and Afghanistan'.

Assange was arrested in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London on Thursday and swiftly convicted of skipping bail in 2012.

Extradition lawyer Anthony Hanratty says it's the British courts that will consider the US request.

Bruce Harrison reports from Seoul.

President Trump says for now he's still focused on the 'big deal.'

And that, he says, is getting rid of nuclear weapons.

But the president did suggest after his summit with Moon that smaller deals with North Korea may happen.

That would be good news for Moon, who's unable to carry out bold economic plans with North Korea because of international sanctions.

He's facing growing pressure for a lack of progress with Kim Jong-un.

North Korea has demanded partial sanctions relief, a smaller deal.

But Trump says he's not ready to do that.
