US Treasury Secretary: latest trade talks with China were "constructive"


US Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin says the latest round of trade talks with China in Beijing were "constructive."

The two countries are trying to find a deal to end a trade war that's seen both sides slapping tariffs on billions of dollars of goods.

UK PM's Brexit Withdrawal Bill Defeated

The British Prime Minister's EU Withdrawal Agreement has been defeated by a majority of 58 votes in Parliament.


The country was given the deadline of March 29th by the EU to agree to a deal or face a no-deal scenario on 12th April. To avoid a cliff edge exit, Britain will now have to find an alternative route, which could mean a number of outcomes including a long extension.

Film director Agnes Varda dies aged 90

French film director Agnes Varda has died in Paris at the age of 90.

One of the pioneers of Nouvelle Vague cinema, she continued to make films until the end of her life, winning a honorary Oscar in 2017.

Germany extends Saudi weapons ban

Germany will extend a ban on weapons exports to Saudi Arabia for another six months, but agreed to a ninth month extension for export licenses that have already been granted.

The compromise allows the UK and France to continue with joint projects using German components that had been under question because of the ban.

Yellow Vests ringleader fined for organising illegal demonstrations

Belgium Projects GDP Drop if No Deal Brexit

South Korea says Moon and Trump will hold a summit on April 11th in Washington.

 

A spokesperson for Moon said they'll coordinate their position on how to achieve peace through denuclearization.

 

It's their first meeting since Trump and Kim Jong-un failed to reach a deal at their summit in Hanoi last month.

 

Washington remains positive about talks with Kim.
