BOEING UNDER PRESSURE OVER 737 MAX 8

Plane-maker Boeing is under pressure over its new 737 Max 8 model after the Ethiopian Airlines crash on Sunday which killed 157 people.

It's the second crash in months for the plane, which was also the model in the Lion Air disaster in Indonesia in October.

China and Ethiopian Airlines have grounded all 737 Max 8s after the crash close to Addis Ababa.

Investigations are underway to work out why the plane came down.

One of those who died was Joanna Tool, a UN worker.

Her father Adrian says he's in shock.

N. Koreans await results in parliamentary elections

North Koreans have voted in parliamentary elections for the second time since Kim Jong-un took power. But in these elections, there's no choice of candidates, and support for Kim's government is always unanimous.

The votes are reportedly being tallied.

But the outcome will be no surprise.

Voters around the country only have one choice for their representative to the Supreme People's Assembly.

The candidates are chosen by Kim Jong-un's ruling Workers Party and two minor parties.

But they all back Kim's governing alliance.

The legislature has little, if any, independent power.

During the last election in 2014, state media reported nearly 100 percent turnout.

And that year, Kim was unanimously elected to his seat in the legislature.

New data showing a worse-than-expected drop in Chinese exports contributed to the negative sentiment.

And comments by America's top diplomat in Beijing dampened expectations about an imminent breakthrough in the trade dispute.

North Korean state media says the drills violate agreements Pyongyang has with the U.S. and South Korea.

The allies hold annual spring war games that involve thousands of troops.

But the current week-long exercise is much smaller than previous years.

President Trump agreed to shrink the military drills apparently to keep room open for talks with North Korea.

He's also said the drills are too expensive.

Pyongyang has always criticized the drills as a threat of invasion.

Seoul responded to the North, saying the new drills are only defensive in nature.
