Ethiopia’s gas production

Ethiopia and Djibouti have made an agreement to build a pipeline to transport Ethiopian gas to an export terminal in the Red Sea state. Ethiopia targets an income of  over one billion dollars annually by selling gas to the global market.

Plane or Train? Speculation builds over Kim's travel plans


Plane or train, it's never clear how North Korean leader Kim Jong-un will travel. And speculation is building about how he'll make his way to Vietnam for his second summit with President Trump.

Leader Kim Jong-un flew to his first summit with President Trump in Singapore.

But land travel from Pyongyang through China and all the way to Hanoi is an option.

Kim Jong-un is reportedly paranoid about travel.

North Korea's state jet is an aging Russian model no-longer manufactured.

And his father, Kim Jong-il, thought it safer to stay on the ground.

A train ride from Pyongyang to Hanoi would take at least two and a half days.

But Reuters reports Vietnam is preparing for a train arrival.

Macron announces anti-semitism measures

French President Emmanuel Macron has announced a series of measures to tackle rising anti-semitism in France.

There's been a spate of attacks in the country over the last few weeks.

And official figures have show that the number anti-jewish acts rose by 74% last year.

UK PARTIES BRACE FOR FRESH DEFECTIONS

The UK's two main political parties are braced for fresh defections to a new Independent Group of MPs.

11 MPs have so far joined the Independent Group - 8 from opposition Labour, and 3 from the governing Conservatives.

The Independent Group is not yet a political party, but says it wants to occupy the 'centre ground'.

It's rumoured several MPs from Labour and the Conservatives are close to quitting over issues including Brexit, anti-semitism, and their own current parties' leaderships.

But Chancellor Philip Hammond says he hopes the move by defecting Conservatives won't be permanent.

UK-EU BREXIT TALKS CONTINUE

The UK's Brexit Secretary and Attorney General are due in Brussels for talks on Thursday as talks continue on changes to the Irish border backstop.

Prime Minister Theresa May held what were described as 'constructive' talks with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker on Wednesday.

But the EU continues to insist it won't re-open the Withdrawal Agreement between London and Brussels.

The UK's due to leave the EU on March 29th.

Chancellor Philip Hammond says he believes progress is being made and doesn't believe a delay to Brexit would be helpful.

Belgian students march against climate change for seventh week

Thousands of young people across Belgium are walking out of schools and universities to protest climate change for the seventh week in a row.

This week they're being joined by the Swedish schoolgirl who started the whole movement by refusing to attend school until politicians do more to prevent global warming.

Trump administration cancels nearly $1 billion for California high-speed rail

The Trump administration has said it's cancelling nearly $1 billion in funding for a high-speed rail system that was to be built between Los Angeles and San Francisco.

California's governor says the move is "clear political retribution," coming on the heels of his state's decision to join 15 other U.S. states in suing the Trump administration over its declaration of a national emergency on the US-Mexico border.

UK PM CONTINUES BREXIT WORK AMID RESIGNATIONS

Juncker criticizes Hungarian PM for "fake news" campaign

European Union Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker says the party of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán should no longer be part of the largest conservative political group at European level.

A public battle has broken out after prime minister Orbán  launched a smear campaign against President Jucnker accusing Brussels of trying to force Hungary to accept migrants.

Three Tory MPs join Labour breakaway group

Three Conservative MPs have announced they're leaving the UK's Tory party to join a Labour breakaway group.


They said the final straw was the Government's "disastrous handling of Brexit."


The Prime Minister said she was "saddened" by the resignations, but insisted her Government was doing right thing for the country by delivering Brexit.

India, Saudi Arabia say terrorism is a common concern
