PM May to Talk Brexit with Northern Irish Parties

UK Prime Minister Theresa May will be spending the second day of her trip in Northern Ireland meeting with heads of the country's political parties. 

Her mission is try and please all of them as the debate continues over how to amend the Brexit divorce deal.

MAY HOLDS BACKSTOP TALKS AHEAD OF BRUSSELS VISIT

UK Prime Minister Theresa May's holding talks with Northern Ireland's main political parties as she tries to find a solution to the border backstop issue.

Mrs May insists she can win changes to the controversial backstop solution which will ensure no hard border between Ireland and Northern Ireland.

On Thursday she'll hold talks in Brussels with EU officials.

The Prime Minister needs to achieve changes to the current backstop in her Brexit deal to appease many MPs in her own party.

One of them - Andrew Murrison - believes the EU will compromise in the end.

4000 applicants for 14 sanitary worker jobs in India

In the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, over four thousand people have applied for fourteen sanitary worker jobs with the state government.

Critics have accused Prime Minister Modi's government of failing to deliver on its promise of creating 10 million jobs every year.

Afghan president dismisses Moscow peace talks

Afghanistan's President Ashraf Ghani has questioned the legitimacy of peace talks in Moscow, which do not include his government. He said the dialogue was 'nothing more than a fantasy'. Trump reiterates demand for border wall in State of the Union address

President Trump vowed once again to build his controversial border wall in a State of the Union address calling for unity.

The President also announced he will hold a second summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un at the end of the month in Vietnam.

TRUMP TO MAKE STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS

US President Trump will deliver his second State of the Union address later (9pm ET).

The speech was postponed from last month because of the partial government shutdown, which was prompted by Mr. Trump's demand that Congress pay for a wall along the southern border with Mexico.

Lima Group urges peaceful resolution to Venezuela crisis

Latin American nations and Canada are urging a peaceful resolution to the crisis in Venezuela.

The so-called Lima Group is issuing a declaration calling on the country's military to support opposition leader Juan Guaido.

UN trade official warns of tariff impact

A trade official at the United Nations has warned that a U.S. move to
raise tariffs on Chinese goods would have a major impact on the global
economy.

PM May Says She Committed to Keeping Irish Border Open

UK Prime Minister Theresa May is in Belfast, trying to calm jitters that a hard border could pop up if there's a no deal Brexit. 

On Tuesday she met with Northern Irish business leaders, Wednesday she'll meet with political parties there, and then on Thursday she'll head to Brussels to meet with EU leaders.

While speaking in Belfast, Prime Minister May said she can deliver a Brexit that will not lead to a hard border. 

But she also stressed the controversial Irish backstop needs to be amended to get support from MPs in Westminster.

Germania Airlines files for bankruptcy

German airline Germania announced that it has filed for bankruptcy and would cease operations immediately.

Russian tourists in baby dangling video outrage

A video showing a man throwing his baby in the air in front of a crowd of onlookers has gone viral, and led to outrage around the world.
