UK GOVT: BREXIT VOTE TO GO AHEAD

The UK government insists it is going ahead with a vote in Parliament on Tuesday on the Brexit deal it's reached with Brussels.

This despite UK Prime Minister Theresa May facing a heavy defeat in the House of Commons.

She's been briefing cabinet ministers on calls she's had in recent days with EU leaders.

Mrs May may try and ask the EU for changes to the agreed deal if it's voted down in Westminster on Tuesday.

UK correspondent Olly Barratt says a decision from the European Court of Justice that the UK can unilaterally cancel Brexit, may not change much.

ECJ: UK CAN REVOKE BREXIT UNILATERALLY

The European Court of Justice has ruled the UK could revoke its decision to leave the EU unilaterally.

And the ECJ says the cancelling of Brexit would see Britain staying in the European Union on existing terms.

It comes as the UK government insists it is going ahead with a vote in Parliament on Tuesday on the Brexit deal its reached with Brussels.

This despite UK Prime Minister Theresa May facing a heavy defeat in the House of Commons.

Conservative MP Maggie Throup says she's backing the Prime Minister to make sure Britain doesn't crash out with no deal in place.

MAY STRUGGLES TO WIN SUPPORT FOR BREXIT VOTE

An attempt from the UK government to win over MPs opposed to Prime Minister Theresa May's Brexit deal, appears to have made little impact.

A proposed amendment, understood to have Downing Street backing, which would have given UK lawmakers more of a say over the controversial Northern Ireland backstop, has not won widespread support.

Which, as UK correspondent Olly Barratt reports, means Theresa May still looks set to lose a parliamentary vote on her deal on Tuesday.

But, as our UK correspondent Natalie Powell reports, many Brexiteers are still unwilling to agree to the Brexit proposal
