WILDLIFE CRIME SUMMIT OPENS IN LONDON

World leaders have gathered in London to try and crack down on the Illegal Wildlife Trade around the world.

It comes amid warnings hundreds of species are at risk of extinction due to poaching and wildlife crime.

The UK is promising to increase financial support for anti-poaching activities, and to do more to disrupt the flow of money related to the illegal wildlife trade.

Ten women level harassment charges against junior Indian minister

A junior foreign minister in the Indian government has become the most high profile person to be accused of sexual harassment in what is being called India's #MeToo movement.

Seoul counters Trump's remark on sanctions lifting


Seoul is downplaying comments by President Donald Trump who said South Korea does nothing without Washington's approval. Trump made the remark after South Korea's foreign minister suggested Seoul would be lifting its own sanctions against North Korea.

South Korea's presidential office said President Donald Trump only meant actions would be approved after consent on both sides.

This week, South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-hwa suggested Seoul would ease a set of sanctions against North Korea to encourage leader Kim Jong-un to give up his nuclear weapons.

Kang was referring to sanctions South Korea put in place against the North in 2010 after the sinking of a South Korean warship. Forty-six sailors were killed.

Kang later backtracked on her comments. And the foreign ministry denied there's an ongoing review about lifting the sanctions.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in favors closer ties with Pyongyang. But he has also promised to back international sanctions that largely target trade with North Korea.

UPDATE: Hurricane Michael leaves one person dead in Florida as it hammers southern USA


Authorities in Florida say one person has died after Hurricane Michael hammered the southern US state.

The storm made landfall over Florida's Panhandle region as a category three hurricane packing 200 kmh winds.

At least three killed in Bali Sea quake as island hosts IMF meetings


Indonesian officials say at least three people were killed in a magnitude 6.0-earthquake that struck off the Islands of Bali and Java.

It comes as Bali hosts a gathering of business leaders and policy makers for the IMF and World Bank Group meetings.

NY limo operator charger over 20 deaths

The operator of the New York limousine company involved in a crash
that killed 20 people has been charged with criminally negligent
homicide.

State police arrested Nauman Hussein after announcing the vehicle was
not road worthy and the the driver not properly licensed.

Trump and US Officials Speak to Saudis over Missing Journalist

US President Donald Trump says he has spoken to Saudi Arabian officials "at the highest level", "more than once" about the journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Khashoggi was last seen entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul last week. 

Turkish officials have concluded that he was murdered there on orders from Saudi leadership.

Giant mosquitoes multiply in wake of Hurricane Florence

Thousands of giant mosquitoes have spawned in areas of the United
States impacted by Hurricane Florence.

Entomologists estimate they are roughly two or three times bigger than
a normal mosquito and thrive in floodwaters.

May tells MPs to put national interest first on Brexit

British Prime Minister Theresa May has told MPs that it is their duty to vote to leave the European Union, following the public referendum of 2016.

At a session of Prime Minister's Question Time in the House of Commons, the British leader told lawmakers they had to "put the national interest first" when deciding whether to approve a Brexit deal in a vote likely to take place later in the year. 

It comes as negotiations continue in Brussels on a final Brexit deal despite the European Union rejecting May's so-called Chequers plan at a recent summit in Salzburg.   

The Chequers deal is also unpopular within her Conservative party and Theresa May is under pressure to change course ahead of a crucial EU leaders meeting next week, however she told the House she working to agree a deal which they must support.

VIETNAM: UK CAN JOIN TPP

Vietnam says the UK would be welcome in the Trans-Pacific Partnership after Brexit.

Hacked hardware found by major U.S. telecoms company: Bloomberg

According to Bloomberg a major U.S. telecommunications company
discovered compromised hardware linked to Chinese tampering.

This comes days after they reported that Super Micro Computers had
sold chips to major companies like Apple and Amazon that had been
manipulated.

Apple has disputed the findings while officials in China say they are
